Although signs of this sort may not be to everyone's taste, this piece possesses loads of decorator appeal -- a one-of-a-kind hand-painted work made for hanging on the side of a country general store. This early wooden-framed example is for Sussex Ice Cream and Ginger Ale, and is circa 1930s, painted over an earlier Rosebud Tobacco tin sign using schmaltz and white enamel. You can see the original underlying sign ghosting through the overpaint. A fairly large sign at 3' x 5'.
