We've had a couple of these fine tortoise shell coin cases over the years, but this is surely the nicest, featuring both gold and silver inlays to the lid. This little 3" x 2" x .75" hinged box has no damage to the shell and the inlays are solid and firmly set, without any loss. The interior is lined in what appears to be raw silk, and includes a smaller removable inner pouch. Circa 1850 and likely French.
