We are chuffed to have been able to secure the remaining five heavy bronze Royal Navy or Army issue measures that were originally companion pieces to the massive 2-gallon measure we previously sold last year. These measures were manufactured by W. & T. Avery of Birmingham, England in 1906, and upon close examination, various stampings suggest they saw a good 50-plus years of military service. The rims feature various inspector's stamps for 1906 and 1926, as well as cyphers for George V and Elizabeth. The fronts are engraved with the British broad arrow, a crown and ER -- meaning their use spanned two world wars. The one gallon measure features solid turned hardwood handles, while the others do not have handles. The 1-gallon measures 7.75" x 7.5" and the smaller measures all nest inside the 1-gallon.
