A 19th century miser's purse with cut steel stud decoration and ornate tasseled ends. We've had several of these bags over the years but this is the first we've seen with the word "Gold" worked into it. The reverse also features a studded Crusader's Cross. Miser's purses were carried by both men and women. They feature a central slit into which you put your coins, and once you slide the ring down below the slit, the coins cannot escape. It could then be tucked into a sleeve or pocket, or slung inside a waist belt.
