A small 5.75" x 3.75" x 2" box in what appears to be cedar, presumably designed a cigarette box. The wood has a wonderful hand-carved Nova Scotia crest surrounded by maple leaves, with the peculiar backwards "N" in Nova Scotia adding a bit of folk art appeal. I would date this piece to 1910-1920. Interestingly, we had another one of these boxes 15-20 years ago, so more than one were made.
