Very unusual circa 1900 ship's lantern completely hand-crafted from wood with glass panels. Sometimes materials were scarce in the remote outports of Newfoundland, so it's not surprising a unique creation such as this might present itself there. Original old green marine paint still intact, with white-painted interior. There is an oil burner inside but it is lacking the wick cap. This is the second time we've owned this particular lantern and it is originally from an old Newfoundland collection.
