A simple circa 1820-1840 Nova Scotia flame birch single-drawer stand from Yarmouth County. Original finish, single-board, tapered square legs with inside chamfer. Peg and square nail construction. Interestingly, this stand came from "The Old Ladies Home" in Yarmouth. Also referred to as Sunset Terrace, the home was erected in 1890 as a safe haven for spinsters or elderly women who had lost their husbands. It's likely this stand was donated to the home around that time as a piece of used furniture.
