A superb make-do whale oil lamp from the third quarter of the 19th century. At some point early in its life, this lamp suffered a broken base, and rather than discard it, the owner had a wonderful base made for it, allowing the piece to live on as a functional piece of lighting. Very well done and a great piece of lighting for the collector of primitives or make-do wares.
