Original, as-found carved pine spruce gum box from Lunenburg County. Decorated with hearts and a compass star on the exterior and still retaining a few pieces of spruce gum inside. The original varnish has darkened and flaked over time, partially obscuring the decoration, but this is a nice early 1900's survivor with no additions or alterations. Carved in book form, the date 1908 can be found on the spine.
