Igloo w/Figures by Kavik
Ref: 10273
Seldom seen glazed pottery igloo with applied figures by noted Rankin Inlet artist John Kavik. The white glaze on the primitive figures makes for somewhat of a haunting, ghostly visage. This small 3.5" work is clearly signed in syllabics.
Primitive Inuit ceramics have been under-appreciated until recent years. Kavik was certainly one of the most respected and his work has been featured in many exhibitions, including his first solo show in 1986. His pieces can be found in major collections, such as the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
