Halifax 2-Drawer Stand

Ref: 10766

SOLD

A fine Halifax, Nova Scotia 2-drawer stand in mahogany with satinwood inlay circa 1820. Exceptional proportions to this stand, wearing original stamped brass pulls and a surface that is wholly original and untouched.

See plates 115, 116 and 119 of Henry and Barbara Dobson's "Heritage Furnishings of Atlantic Canada" for Halifax stands similar in construction and quality. The minimal overhang of the top, the shallow upper drawer over the deeper lower drawer, as well as the single band of inlay around the lower edge of the stand, are features often found together on Halifax tables. This piece can hold its own when compared with the work of Thomas Nisbet.

CONDITION NOTES: Minor age check to the single-board top. And lacking the back two leg casters, although the cups and posts are still present, so the stand still sits fine as it is.

Dimensions: 21"x16"x29.75"
