A rare survivor of the early 19th century, this little 4.5" x 6" hand-drawn and cut card stock mechanical novelty depicts a Chinese teapot. There is a little cardboard tab on the back that, when pushed, causes a Chinese man to pop up out of the teapot. It is mounted within a delicate gold gilt plaster frame and behind glass. There is a date of 1829 on the back.
