Unusual combination canteen/lunch tin with hinged compartment for stowing a small amount of food. Tropical-painted exterior with all shoulder strap suspension rings still intact. Brass screw cap for the canteen section. Likely a soldier's private purchase item from the Boer War era, circa 1900.
