A striking late 19th/early 20th century Chinese carpenter's chalk box and line, the box's handle carved in the form of a squirrel foraging squirrel. In Chinese culture the squirrel's represents preparation, accumulation and security. This piece is in remarkably complete condition with the original reel, line, chalk pot and end anchor.
