A large late Victorian silverplate bowl surmounted by a terrifying-looking squirrel gnawing on a nut. Circa 1880 with Aesthetic Movement design characteristics emphasizing nature themes, this piece features an interesting basket-style form standing on a base resembling twigs, the main body with an interesting shagreen-like texture and engraved with flowers and dragonflies. Very good condition. Total height is 16".
