Nova Scotia Birch & Maple Miniature Chest of Drawers
An exceptional Nova Scotia miniature chest of drawers in birch and maple featuring line and dot inlay. This miniature chest was made in the 1880's by a member of the Sullivan family of Dartmouth and passed down through the family where it has resided with one of the grandchildren until the present time. According to Henry Dobson's book "Heritage Furnishings of Atlantic Canada," line and dot inlay was a very popular motif used by maritime cabinet-makers. It is believed Mr. Sullivan may have copied a full-size chest by one of the well-known maritime makers when he built this miniature.
