Scarce circa 1870 iron ladle designed for pouring pitch into the cracks of a ship's deck. Cast handle with forged end and shaped ladle cup with spout for pouring. Circa 1870. Found in a fish shed in PEI. The only other examples I could find are in Canada's McCord Museum collection, as well as several in the National Maritime Museum in London.
