A 19th century oak carving from the estate of an English sea captain. 12" tall and believed to have been used as an interior decoration on a sea-going vessel. At some point in the early 1900's the stand was added and it was converted to a lamp -- there are still remnants of cloth-covered electrical cord present in the back.
