Certainly one of the oddest items we've encountered. This is a 21" swagger stick utilizing a stingray's tail and featuring a sterling silver cap hallmarked for London, 1911. The name "Beryl" is engraved on the cap's top. The name "Beryl" is a female name of Greek origin meaning "sea-green jewel", which makes a sea creature's skin a fitting choice for this particular woman's crop or status stick. The late 19th and early 20th century obession with bringing nature into the home led to some interesting use of taxidermy and exotic animal materials at the time.
