Mather Pearl’s Tancook Decoys

Ref: 8444

$145.00

A farm fresh collection of 1920's Tancook Island eider duck decoys originally owned by Mather Pearl, who was born on Tancook Island in 1876 and served as keeper of the light on Pearl Island for over 30 years after his father retired as the island's first lighthouse keeper. These decoys were made by the well-known group of Levy carvers on the island, and they were used by Mather Pearl then passed down to his son Albert who also served as keeper of the light after his father retired. The decoys were subsequently acquired by Norman Publicover, from whom we acquired them. The eider drakes are $145 each and the hens are $100 each.
