A magnificent pair of circa 1900 Russian niello silver tea glass holders by Gustav Klingert. Klingert's career started as a master silversmith for Faberge. He later begin his own operation in 1865, and nearly 25 years later he exhibited at the Paris Exposition. Four years later he exhibited at the Chicago World's Fair and was touted as one of Russia's most important silver firms. After gaining an undeniable degree of popularity his wares were imported and sold in the United States through Tiffany & Co.
This matching pair of tea glass holders carries his maker's mark. The quality of engraving and niello work is superior. Each measures 2.5" x 3" not including handle. There is a presentation engraving on the underside. Also note the other pair of nearly identical Klingert tea glass holders we currently have on our site from the same estate.
