Very unusual government-issue prosthetic leg manufactured from aircraft aluminum. We have the original I.D. tag for this piece which designates it "PROPERTY OF THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT" and dated 1936. This would've been cutting-edge design for its era and was likely the product of increased efforts to advance the manufacture of prosthetic limbs following World War I. This leg would've originally had flesh-coloured paint which has mostly worn away over time, giving it an eerie cyborg appearnce with the riveted construction and knee socket resembling the ball turret of a WWII bomber. Certainly one of the more interesting finds we've made in awhile.
