A top-tier circa 1890 folk art ship diorama depicting the American barque Winthrop, likely the same vessel captained by Daniel Cony out of Augusta, Maine. This 3-master boasts an impressive twenty-six sails, each being hand-carved and painted. The ship is shown fully rigged and in full sail with various crew members on deck as well as the ship's captain and his wife on board. It is uncommon to find a diorama depicting a woman on the deck. Overall condition is excellent with original grained frame. The shadow box diorama is 13.5" x 24.5" and with the frame measures a sizeable 22" x 33".
