Circa 1860 folk art "sandpaper painting" by an anyonymous artist. Although called sandpaper paintings, they are not on sandpaper nor are they a painting. This interesting, folky art form involves drawing and using ground up marble dust to create an eerie, luminescence. This example is mounted within a fine rosewood frame. Found here in Halifax but artist and location are unknown.
