Exceptional Patriotic Folk Art Quilt
A truly exceptional piece of 19th century British Empire patriotic folk art, this quilt is purported to have been made from fragments of fine melton wool from British army tunics. It features bold red, white and blue colours and is dated 1891, at the center panel a large heart with the royal monogram "VR" for Victoria Regina. The quilt is an impressive 75" x 96" and can easily cover a Queen size bed. It is backed with a floral patterned fabric.
Unquestionably a unique piece and one that spans multiple collecting categories, including quilts, militaria, royalty, and folk art. Condition is excellent.
