Bubby Mooers (1925-2002) is known for being one of Nova Scotia's most prominent folk artists. Before he became famous for his folk carvings he made crooked knife handles for his father. This is certainly one of the most comfortable examples I've handled, with a gouged out thumb rest as well as a flat finger rest on top making for an extremely ergonomic design.

This example is ex-Chris Huntington and was identified by him as the work of Mooers. Considering the patination to the handle I suspect this was one of his earlier pieces done in the late 40's or early 50's.
