Boat Christening Bottle

Boat Christening Bottle

Boat Christening Bottle

Ref: 8380

$200.00

Not-often-seen 1940's era ship's christening bottle comprised of a glass champagne bottle within a nickel plated cage. There is an expected dent in the cage and the original bottle likely would've been smashed during the christening, so our assumption is another bottle was added as well as a stopper so that the cage could then serve as a remembrance of the vent as well as a functional liquor decanter. The inscription on the front states "Motor Trawler Libet/Launched November 4, 1946/Sponsor/Mrs. Arthur H. Monroe" and the reverse is inscribed "Electric Boat Co./Groton, Conn."

Dimensions: 12"
