A hand-made rack for hanging a piece of equipment inside a boat cabin. The backboard's shape resembles a boat's nameboard with carved ends and has a nice original surface. The rack features two U-shaped hooks similar to what you would find on a gun rack, but the inside dimensions are too narrow for a gun so this was likely designed to hold a fishing rod, gaff, landing net or some other piece of pole-like equipment. This would also be an ideal piece to display a prized sword or walking stick on your wall. Circa 1920.
