Pictou County Clock Shelf
Clock shelf found in Little Harbour, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, believed to be circa 1820-1840. It is of simple, primitive construction with a backboard showing hand-planing marks and what look to be rosehead nails. The top is a dark stained hardwood, and although it is difficult to tell, it appears the moulded sections may also be hardwood. The backboard is pine, also dark stained to match. There are two large mounting screws protruding from the backside. As evidenced by the photos, this shelf is very dirty and we've made no attempt to clean it, preferring to show it as untouched and as found as possible. Please examine all other photos we've included.
