WWI painted helmet with insignia to the famed 85th Battalion Nova Scotia Highlanders. The 85th fought valiantly in France and became famous for taking Hill 145. That hill remains famous today as the home of the Vimy Memorial. The 85th's regimental colours are now proudly laid up in Halifax's Government House. This rare survivor is a true barn find, surfacing in an old country outbuilding in Hampton, Nova Scotia -- there are still a few cobwebs sitting in the liner. See additional photos below.
