1855 Woodstock New Brunswick Sampler

1855 Woodstock New Brunswick Sampler

Ref: 3354

SOLD

1855 dated needlework sampler belonging to Susan Helen Connell of Woodstock, New Brunswick. The central cartouche is embroided "Susan H. Connell, Aged 10, July 1st, 1855, Woodstock". The sampler retains good colour, owing to the fact that it looks to have not been framed until the 1920's. Nicely decorated with floral sprigs, birds and whimsical squirrels. Susan Connell went on to Marry George Ritchie Anderson of Halifax, a colonel in the Nova Scotia militia and an aide-de-camp to the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia. This sampler has been in the Connell family until present time.

Dimensions: 18"x21"
